Susan's Obituaries

Tacoma and Seattle, Washington

Susan Preston Richards peacefully passed on from this life on July 27th, 2001. She left us far too early for someone so loving and caring. She is survived by her husband Eric, parents Jim and Sandra, brothers Jay and John, grandparents John and Mertis Evans, and a large set of close friends and family that will miss her sparkling, generous way.

Susan was born 1/21/69 in Panama City, FL, where she grew up within an extended, loving family group. She met her future husband, Eric, while studying Math at Auburn University in Alabama, coming with him to Portland in 1992. She loved animals all of her life and in 1997 was eager to leave her research career behind to focus on the rural farm life in Graham, WA. During that time, she reworked her house and land and continued loving and caring for Great Pyrenees dogs, along with a host of other farm animals.

Susan was an example to us all given the grace, courage, and determination she exhibited as she came to terms with her progressive illness. She focused on her house and acreage and caring for her animals, always reminding us "I love Graham." Memorial services will be held at Susan and Eric's house in Graham, gathering between 2:00 - 2:45 pm on Sat, 4th of August. See http://www.ericri.com/ for info and donation wishes.
